Obituary for Allan "Al" "Gibber" "Gibby" Gibbs

Allan Edward Gibbs, “Gibber” or “Gibby” (to the Wheat King family), age 57 years, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.

Al was born in Thompson, Manitoba to Craig and Helen Gibbs on April 28, 1965. He loved living the cowboy life and spending all his time riding horses and catching rabbits for his mom. He was a butcher since he was 15 and loved every minute of it. Along with owning his own butcher shop, Al also had a meal service where he would cook and plate fresh and nutritious meals for people. He was proud to serve them on glass plates with real cutlery to ensure the people receiving the meals felt as close to a home cooked meal experience as possible. He loved taking his kids out with him on jobs for his butcher shop and helping him deliver meals every day after school. He talked often with his kids about how much he wanted to take his kids with him to the Yukon, where he spent many years of his life, to show them around his heart home.

Al is survived by Kerrie Gibbs; daughters Lyndsi and Abigaele; sons Allan Jr. and Cody; his father, Craig (Donna) Gibbs, his sister Wanda (Irwin) Lennox and nieces Jodi (Curtis) Baker, their children Lincoln, Sawyer, and Isla, Adrienne, Allison and Nicole. Al loved his brother Gord’s children Cory (Deb) Gibbs and Sierra, Amanda (Ken) Malchuk and Koda & Renae (Jostein) Hauge, Emily and Joji. He was predeceased by his mother Helen Gibbs and brothers Gord Gibbs and Kenneth Gibbs.

The Memorial Service for Al Gibbs will be held at Calvary Temple, 620-34th Street, on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ron Pierce officiating. Donations in memory of Al may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada – Manitoba Branch, Unit 1, 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4.
