Obituary for Barry Alexander Moorehead

Barry Alexander Moorehead, formerly of Douglas, Manitoba passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 after some continuing health issues. Barry was born in Brandon, Manitoba on October 22, 1944. During his time in Douglas, Barry enjoyed playing baseball, curling and fishing. Barry was dedicated to his community, as caretaker of the Douglas Rink and board member of both the Douglas Rink and Hall. He was also an avid bingo player and loved music, dances and travelling. Barry worked numerous jobs including construction and also at Simplot while helping his Dad on the farm. He eventually left Simplot in 1975 to pursue farming full time, his first passion. Due to health issues, Barry retired in June 2016 and moved to Rotary Villa in Brandon. In his later years, he enjoyed camping and fishing, his new passion, with Bill and Elsie. Barry is survived by his brothers Raymond, Richard (Dianne), Fred (Gloria), Bill (Elsie) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John and mother Phyllis. A Graveside Service was held at Madford Cemetery on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 with Rev. Barbara Jardine officiating. Pallbearers were Stephen Moorehead, Greg Moorehead, Jason Moorehead, Johnathan Moorehead, Dwayne Moorehead and David McBeth. A luncheon followed at the home of Bill and Else.
