Obituary for Bonnie Lynne Bartlett

Bonnie Lynne Bartlett passed away with family by her side at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home on Thursday, June 30, 2022. Born on April 26, 1946 in the Municipality of Albert, Manitoba to Jim and Gladys Shears, Bonnie was raised in a large family with five sisters and three brothers. She attended grade school in Bernice and then moved to Lyleton as a teen. In 1964, Bonnie married Marc Vinck and raised their three children, Dwayne, Todd and Tracy, while being a farm wife in the RM of Albert. Bonnie became Melita’s first ever nursery school teacher in 1981. She then moved to Brandon to attend Hairdressing School in the early 1990s, and then worked at the hair salon in the Assiniboine Hospital until she took over the Lions Manor Hairdressing Salon, which she ran for over 20 years. Later in life, Bonnie worked as a care provider for her very special ladies and at the Sokol Manor, where she took on the responsibility of Chief Gardener, keeping the garden going for all to enjoy. Bonnie married Ed Bartlett in 2006. In her early years, Bonnie participated in 4-H and Brownies Canadian Girls in Training, and in later life, Bonnie was an active member of the Wheat City group always supporting others. Bonnie was an animal lover and absolutely loved gardening; she could grow anything. She enjoyed dancing and her weekend getaways to Belcourt and Carberry with Jim and Donna Hillis, and absolutely loved the scheduled getaways she had with all her sisters. Bonnie loved her family and was the biggest fan at all her grandchildren’s events. Bonnie will be lovingly remembered by her children Dwayne (Tyla) Vinck, Todd Vinck and Tracy (Guy Roberts); loving husband Ed Bartlett; Ed’s son Trent (Angele); grandchildren Megan (Luke) Baron, Sarah Vinck, Jared Vinck, Brendan Vinck, Courtney (Roy) Roberts and Quinton Roberts; siblings Gladys “Toots” Turnball, Joan Murray, Ken (Pat) Shears, Mary (Rod) Cairns, Jack (Elaine) Shears, Sandra (Don) Higgins and Susan (Phil) Lesy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Gladys and Jim Shears and brother Jim Shears. The Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 – 18th Street North, Brandon, on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. For those not able to attend in person, the service will be webcast on Bonnie’s memorial page at www.memorieschapel.com.
