Brenda Joan Kennis (nee Lacasse), aged 59 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, with her loving husband Robert Kennis by her side with great courage and strength in honouring their vows. Brenda was born May 30, 1961 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to the late Adelard and Iris Lacasse. She leaves behind her three children, Melissa Iris, William Ilmari, and Samantha Tiffany; and her two step children Ashley Joan and Kyle Robert. Love finds you unexpectedly and erases all of what you thought you knew. It roars louder than a storm, puts all broken pieces back together. With painted words inscribed on her heart by her soulmate, detailed in her favourite vibrant colours. On March 18, 2000, without hesitation, the pair eloped, a true statement of their love for one another. Together they built a foundation of strong roots with inspiration to start a new life journey in Douglas, Manitoba. Brenda was the youngest of four children; she was strong willed, carried an infectious laugh, was highly self-sufficient, confident in her words, fearlessly wild, and always admired for standing her ground to speak her mind and stand up for the voices not heard. Brenda shared her birthday with her mother Iris, born under the mutual sign of Gemini. Both eternally youthful, always maintaining a childlike glow and playful personality, in spite of their age. The creativity and artistic abilities that Brenda had radiated in her personal and professional life, becoming a top paint sales manager within Canada and passing on the artistic gifts to her children and grandchildren. Her abilities did not start and end with a brush, she took those skills and transferred them into all aspects of her life; from restoring her home to collecting antiques to baking skilled desserts; Brenda was always looking to better develop her talents. Melissa and Samantha share these roots that were built by Brenda and Robert. Wild and free, never a dull moment, filled with lasting memories and a heartbeat so strong the bond will remain unbreakable. Together as one they continue to carry the legacy of one of the most selfless persons they know. Stubborn until her last breath, she held on to life, until knowing her family was together. Brenda's most cherished moments were those moments of contagious laughter filled with the warmth of her grandchildren, Felicia Iris, Kira Lynn, and Danni Lilyan. All strong-willed children raised with the same tenacity and forever a child attitude that was exuberated by the now late Brenda Joan Kennis.
