It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Brent Legg on Monday, September 14, 2020 at the age of 58 years. Brent was predeceased by his mother Georgina Legg and stepfather Ernest Alder of Virden, MB. Born July 4, 1962, Brent was raised on a farm in Southwest Manitoba and attended school in Pipestone and Reston before moving to Brandon to pursue post-secondary education. Brent completed a Music degree, a Bachelor of General Studies and a Master in Music Education, all at Brandon University. He then began his 35-year career at Brandon University as an Instructor in the Eckhardt-Gramatté Conservatory of Music teaching recorder and harpsichord, then as Assistant Director of Collegium Musicum and in the Theory and History Department of the School of Music. He was active as a continuo player, arranger, and composer, and regularly offered recorder workshops for prospective teachers and elementary music classes in the schools. Honouring his mother and their love for music, Brent set up the “Georgina M. Legg Memorial Scholarship in Winds” and the “Brent Legg Scholarship in Music Theory or History”. Brent was also gracious with his time, volunteering with many charitable organizations throughout his life. There will be a gathering for friends and family at a later date, details to be announced. Donations in memory of Brent may be made to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, #140 340-9th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 6C2, the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3 or the Kids Help Phone, PO Box 61017, Grant Park, Winnipeg, MB R3M 3X8.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Brent’s passing. He was a close neighbour, a school bus mate, and a school chum to us in both the Pipestone and Reston schools that he attended. Brent shared his love for music with the neighbourhood. We cherish his memory. Please notify Grace Ross and Thomas Stewart when Brent’s Celebration of Life will be held. Contact information is as follows: Thank you kindly. Grace and Thomas

My best childhood memory is spending summers at cousin Brent's and aunt Jeannie's farm. They instilled a love of animals that I hold dear to this day. Thank you, love you, rest well.
