BAYES: Cecil Harry Bayes sadly passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre with family by his side. Born July 18, 1922, Cecil was the sixth son of Harry and Annie Bayes and grew up working on the family farm in the Riverdale district. In 1942, he joined the 1st & 7th Anti-Tank Regiment that moved through Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and into Germany. Cecil returned home in 1947 after the war and purchased the family farm. In 1952, he married Doreen Ellen Edwards and raised a family of 11 children. Cecil continued farming while also working several years at Agristeel in Minnedosa and many years at Behlen Industries in Brandon before retiring at the age of 65 years. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion #49, IOOF and 4-H. Cecil liked to keep busy gardening and fishing with close friends and always enjoyed playing assorted card games. He also enjoyed the occasional gambling trip with Doreen and friends. Cecil enjoyed belonging to the community of Rapid City. In 2004, Cecil and Doreen moved to Minnedosa and in 2007, Cecil moved to Victoria Landing Retirement Residence in Brandon to be closer to Doreen. Cecil was predeceased by his wife Doreen of 56 years, his parents, brothers Levi, Ray, Ernie, Fred and sons-in-law Ron Zolinski and Joe Kulbacki. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Margaret (Doug) Legg, Douglas (Kim) Bayes, Albert (Katherine) Bayes, Kathrine (Doug) Crompton, Sandra Kulbacki, Neil Bayes, Maxine (Gord) Pascoe, Beverley Goodman, Bruce (Sandra) Bayes, Patricia Zolinski and Darcy (Shannon) Bayes, 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Art. The family will continue to love and miss him always. Dad was a kind man with a great sense of humour that he passed onto his children.
