Obituary for Cheryl Ann "Cherie" Gordon
Peacefully, with her father and friends Rachel and Shauna by her side, Cherie passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.
Cherie was predeceased by her mother Joyce Gordon and is survived by her father Ken Gordon.
Cherie was born July 23, 1964 in Brandon. She attended Sacred Heart School and then George Fitton School. Since graduation, Cherie attended COR Enterprises Inc. as a Participant. It was a great place, and she thoroughly enjoyed her time there. For many years, Cherie enjoyed motorhome rides, which thrilled her, with her parents to North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan and Northern Ontario to the shores of Lake Superior.
Cherie lived with her parents until her mother’s passing in 2016. Cherie’s mother was her primary caregiver, devoting her life to ensuring Cherie was always attending school and activities at COR Enterprises. With the tremendous help of Community Respite Service and their Respite Workers, she transitioned to group home care in November 2016. With the strong efforts of her father, she was able to remain in her family home. Cherie touched many lives. Ken would like to acknowledge the many staff for their compassion and friendship given to Cherie over the years.
A private graveside service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery.
