Obituary for David Henry Allingham
We are grieved to announce the death of our beloved husband and father, David Allingham on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at his home in the RM of Grasslands.
David was born in Ottawa, Ontario on July 13, 1954 to Regina (Boucher) and Harold Allingham. Two years later he was joined by his sister Trudi and eleven years after that Jeffery arrived to complete the family. David attended Ottawa Technical High School until his graduation from Grade 13 in Ontario. He enjoyed diverse pursuits including basketball, music, theatre, electronics and debating. He later took to martial arts earning a 1st Dan black belt in Tai Kwon Do. Attending Ottawa University David started out in the medical program later transferring into the psychology program. With 4 partial years completed he had to leave university unfinished but retained a keen desire to complete a degree. By attending part-time studies he earned a Certificate of Business Administration and Honours Bachelor of Commerce in later adulthood from Ottawa University.
One of David’s hobbies brought him into the realm of computers. It was here that his intelligence and intuition helped him excel and become employed as one of the vanguards in information technology for the federal government. He began this career with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs in the area of database administration. He was transferred to Charlottetown, P.E.I. when the department decentralized. Returning to Ottawa in 1988, David joined the Department of Environment Canada where he earned certification as a project manager and led information technology projects for the department. David retired in 2010 and moved to Brandon, Manitoba with his family.
After retiring, David took Carpentry at Assiniboine Community College and later put his skills and knowledge to work helping people with their DIY projects at home.
David joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in P.E.I. in 1987. He has been a dedicated lay leader in the church, dedicating much of his time and talents to uplift and improve the lives of others. He had discovered an aptitude for teaching, sharing his wisdom and living the gospel.
David will be missed by his wife Andrea, daughter Samantha, son Samuel, mother Regina Boucher, sister Trudi (Dave) Farrell, brother Jeffery (Diane) Allingham and his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Harold Allingham. He will be missed so very much as a kind, loving, giving and compassionate man.
