Obituary for Delbert Vaughn MacPherson

MacPHERSON: Delbert Vaughn MacPherson, age 78 years, a former Brandon teacher, passed away in Souris, Manitoba on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Del was born October 19, 1943 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to Alexander "Sandy" and Velma (nee Brown) MacPherson. He was raised on the farm, with lots of family around and good spots for hunting. He went to University in Saskatoon and Regina, where he got his teaching degree. After getting married, the family moved to Deloraine, before settling in Brandon. Del taught at Earl Haig, Harrison, Earl Oxford and Crocus Plains, teaching Language Arts and Social Studies. He loved teaching, history and nature, and was an avid hunter, as well as a highly skilled target shooter, winning competitions into the 2010s. Over the years he was involved with the Brandon Wildlife Federation, the Manitoba Wildlife Federation, as well as several local gun clubs. Del was predeceased by both parents. He is survived by his daughters Danielle, Alexa, and Nicole, grandson Aaron, sister Charlene, niece Erin, nephew Alex, great-niece Norah, and great-nephews Marcus and John. The Celebration of Del’s Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 – 18th Street North, on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Brandon Cemetery. All are welcome. Donations in memory of Del may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5.
