Obituary

Dennis William McDougall, age 63 years, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020. Dennis was born in Killarney, Manitoba on January 16, 1957 to Angus and Isabel McDougall. Early in life he became an avid baseball player participating in many leagues in Killarney and then in Brandon when the family moved there in 1967. Dennis attended Alexandra Elementary School and Harrison Junior High prior to entering the workforce at an early age. He worked in various jobs from construction to employment that had him interacting with the public. After trying his hand at many different aspects of employment, he returned to school at ACC in Brandon and launched his career as an electronics technician, which was his lifelong dream and it's been said "if it has a schematic Dennis could fix it". Dennis passed his time playing baseball in many leagues; he was a fixture at every tournament and was instrumental organizing them. After Dennis suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2014, he spent many months recovering and it appeared he was on his way to a normal life however, the aftereffects never allowed him to return to doing the things he loved. Dennis is survived by his brother Gary (Maureen) McDougall, sister Carolyn (Bruce) Park and nephews Blake and Blaine. He was predeceased by his parents Angus and Isabel McDougall. The family will cherish Dennis’ memory privately. Donations in memory of Dennis may be made to a charity of one's choice.

With a sad heart, and for my reasons only i say this. I grew up with Dennis and his family, the Benstead's and everyone else in that neighborhood of 900 block 11th to 13th street in Brandon. Having met them all when i was 6 years old, and never looked back for over 50 years. I have lived in Calgary just over 35 years and was always in touch with Dennis and always saw him, even when he lived in Burnaby i went to see him. When i went back to Brandon i always spent time with Dennis. And as other postings here have said, my GOD i have never laughed so hard in my life over all the fun times and stories i have had with Dennis. hey was and will always be one of the most help full and great person to know. my life would have been a lot less had i not met him. Dennis was every ones friend, he was my friend --- forever.......

I knew Dennis for years through acquaintances. He always liked to tease and had a great sense of humour. He was kind enough to do my wedding video for me. Remember flying out to BC when they lived there and he was working at The Brick. Lots of good memories! RIP Dennis!

Gary, Carolyn and families,
It has been a long time since the days back in the neighborhood - picked up the Brandon Sun and saw that Dennis has passed away - really sorry to hear that. I certainly didn't know anything about his love of baseball !!! Last time I saw him was at his job - I believe at Television City it was called.
Please accept our condolences and take care. Hopefully our roads will cross again.
Ron, Bob, Murray Chapman and our families.
