Obituary for Donald Harrison Bromley

Donald Harrison Bromley, of the RM of Riverdale, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

Born June 9, 1945 in Brandon, Don grew up in the R.M. of Riverdale where he lived and worked the whole of his 77 years, and where he also passed away. He attended Harrow School, Rivers Collegiate and then completed his Agriculture Extension AgriBusiness. Don farmed, both grain and beef, and during the off-season, worked in several vocations, such as Metal Industries, Somass Lumber Mill and Heartland Livestock. He was also an executive member for Keystone Agriculture Producers, a Councilor for R.M. of Daly and belonged to the Brandon Co-Op Board, Zero-Till Association, Canadian Ski Patrol-Manitoba and Wannakumbac Circle. Don’s love of camping started when he attended Camp Wannakumbac (formerly MFAC), and he was proud that three generations attended the camp: himself, his son Joel and then his grandson Colby; continuing his interest in the Wannakumbac Circle. In later years, Don got the travel bug with Denise, going on Farm Study Tours to China and South Africa. They loved the RV life exploring Canada, USA and Mexico, while also fitting in trips to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, where long lasting friendships were formed. Don coached for the Rivers Jets and spent many hours in his shop restoring his dad’s old model “M” tractor and tinkering with metal scraps, creating whatever he imagined.

Don’s fun-loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Denise; son Joel (Holly) and daughter Suzann (Dan); grandchildren Colby (Candice), Kelsey (Jesse), Courtnee (Jody), Logan and Lincoln; brother Barry (Irene) and brother-in-law John. Don was predeceased by his parents W.W. “Bill” and Hazel and sister Karen.

The Funeral Service will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 – 18th Street North on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Joel Bromley, Dan Lewis, Josh Bromley, Jesse Gordon, Clint Nicol and Bevan Bromley as pallbearers. A private burial will follow at Roseville Cemetery. For those not able to attend in person, the service will be webcast on Don’s memorial page at www.memorieschapel.com.
