Donna Ruth Brown
October 28, 1951 – February 10, 2023
Donna Ruth Brown, age 71 years, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, February 10, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Donna was born October 28, 1951 in Shilo, MB to Ruth and Roy McLean. Being in a military family, they moved around a lot, finally landing in Brandon where she met the love of her life, David Brown in 1977. They were married in 1981 and spent 45 years together.
Donna started work as an MTS telephone operator then moved on to manage Checkers Submarine. After that, she worked at Central Park Lodge Personal Care Home, then ran a daycare out of her house. Donna had a big heart and she loved every child in her care and they all loved her, including the parents. When she finally closed her daycare, she went to work as an EA for the school division. She loved working with kids, and she was good at it.
Donna also enjoyed playing slo pitch and curling, and loved watching Terry play his sports. She also loved all the pets we had and camping, which we did for many years.
Donna was predeceased by her parents Ruth and Roy McLean, brother Tom and her beloved daughter Patricia who died in 1985 to Cystic Fibrosis at the young age of ten.
Donna leaves behind her grieving husband David Brown, son Terrance Brown, granddaughter Jade Brown and great grandson Skylar Brown, as well as many other family and friends.
The family wishes to thank all those that came to visit her in the hospital and who called and sent flowers and food to the house. She had a lot of friends who loved her dearly. We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Cancer Care and to the doctors, nurses and aides that work in Palliative Care on A3 of the Assiniboine Centre. They liked Donna and were so compassionate that they treated her like a queen. We will never forget the great care you provided.
A memorial for Donna will be held at a later date.
