Obituary for Edith Christison

CHRISTISON: Edith (nee Kirkness) passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Dinsdale Personal Care Home at the age of 102 years. Edith was the third daughter born to Tom and Ina Kirkness on a farm near Carberry, MB. She attended several schools in the area and apparently was not too fond of school, preferring to spend time outdoors. In 1940, she married Hutton Christison and daughter Marie was born the following year. They lived in Carberry until 1970 when they moved to Brandon. Edith was always a very independent, determined woman who liked to be able to look after herself until very shortly before her death. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and watching the birds and wildlife. Edith also liked to play cards, was an avid reader, and liked listening to music. She and Hutton also enjoyed traveling in western Canada and visiting relatives in Scotland, The Shetland Isles and the Orkney Isles. Edith was predeceased by her parents, husband Hutton, son-in-law Glenn Dankesreiter, her sisters Sophia (Jim) Christison and Lilly (Jack) Anderson, sister-in-law Lily (Art) Schellenberg, brother-in-law Bill (Edith) Christison and many nieces and nephews. Edith will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Marie, grandson Troy, granddaughter Lori (John) Moore and great granddaughter Alina Moore, as well as nieces and nephews. The graveside service was held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the Carberry Plains Cemetery with just her immediate family to say a final goodbye. Donations in memory of Edith may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
