STITT: Ellen Joan (nee Bogner) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Dinsdale Personal Care Home at the age of 87 years. Joan, the youngest of four children, was born on December 28, 1933 in the district of Parkman, SK to parents John and Anna Bogner. She attended grade school in Bethany, SK and later years in Moosomin, SK. After graduating, Joan moved to Regina and received her nurse’s training at Grey Nuns’ Hospital. Joan moved to Brandon in 1954 where she met Don. They married on November 9, 1957 and shared 63 happy wonderful years together. Joan worked and loved nursing for 40 years at Brandon General Hospital in the maternity and neonatal units where she saw many new lives begin. Joan and Don were blessed with one daughter Marie (Kelly), three grandchildren Gregory, Alexis and Chantel and one great grandson Ethan. Joan and Don enjoyed travelling together, Joan also enjoyed tending to flowers in her little garden, knitting many treasures for her family and many hours spent reading. Family was everything to Joan and she very much enjoyed spending time with them. Joan was predeceased by her parents and three siblings. The family would like to express many thanks to the nurses, healthcare workers and staff throughout Dinsdale Personal Care Home who gave her loving care. A big thank you to Chaplain Tunji Olasunkanmi from Dinsdale Personal Care Home as he spent hours getting to know Joan and providing her with comfort through her final days. We deeply thank you. A graveside service was held Monday, June 29, 2020 at Rosewood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Edmund Mielke of Grace Lutheran Church officiating.
