Obituary for Elsie May Sexey
Elsie May Sexey passed away in her sleep, at the age of 80 years, after her battle with cancer.
Mom was born in Dunrea, Manitoba on July 8, 1940 to John and Bessie Jones. She was the 3rd of 6 children and spent her childhood on the family farm. Mom had a love for horses, gardening and enjoyed painting. She was married on January 30, 1960 to Roger Sexey and began her family of 7.
In the 90’s, Mom attended nursing school and graduated as a certified LPN. For 25 years she worked with special needs adults as a support worker before retiring in 2005. She volunteered with St Johns Ambulance and Meals on Wheels.
Mom will be greatly missed by her children: Brent, Brenda, Greg, Chris, David, Michelle (Dale), and Kim (Mike); grandchildren Dennis, Travis, Mathew, Jessica, AJ and Jessica and great grandchildren Lily and Emma. She is also survived by her siblings Rick (Carol) Jones, Delphine McLenaghen, Bill Jones and sister-in-law Janice Jones.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband Roger, parents John and Bessie, siblings Dorothy Myers, Jack Jones, brother-in-law Harold McLenaghen and sister-in-law Darlene Jones.
A Private service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Elsie may be made to the BRHC Foundation for Westman Manitoba Cancer Centre, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A2B3
