Obituary for Faye Maxine McRorie

Faye Maxine McRorie passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Erickson Personal Care Home at the age of 77 years. Faye was born June 19, 1945 in Tisdale, SK and attended elementary school in Goldburn, SK. The family moved off the farm to city life in Camrose, AB, where Faye graduated Grade 12. Upon completion of high school, Faye worked as a secretary for the University of Alberta where she met, and later married, Charles. After the arrival of their first son, they moved to Watson, SK where their family grew yet again with the arrival of a second son. Following a move to the northern beauty, Thompson, MB, their third son and only daughter were born. It was in Thompson that Faye raised her family. Being a social butterfly, once her four children had left home, Faye attended first aide and CPR classes “just to get out of the house”. She also enjoyed reading, listening to music, attending Tupperware parties with her friends, and getting to know people in her community by attending various activities. When all of her kids were gone, Faye moved to Lumby, BC to be near her family, but after being diagnosed with cancer, her daughter moved her back to Manitoba so she could help care for her. Faye continued to be a social butterfly; joining the women’s Bible Group at the Evangelical Church in Rapid City, playing cards and many scrabble games and puzzles with her neighbours from the Legion Gardens in Rapid City, and enjoying card games and conversations at Seniors for Seniors. Faye will be lovingly remembered by her children Mark (Corena), Brad (Krystal), Trent (Charlie) and Maxine (Steven); grandchildren Nathan (Breanna), Anthony, Myles, Molly, Megan and Ian; great grandchildren Ryan, Konnor and River Moon; sisters Rose (John) and Marilyn; brothers Jim (Pam) and Wendal; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Grace (nee Holton) and Daniel; brothers Mervin and Garth; granddaughter Nancy Walby; first husband Charles Walby and second husband George Fiset. A huge thank you to the nurses, housekeeping, activity and dietary staff at Erickson Personal Care Home for their quality care, compassion, kindness and patience everyday. The family will cherish Faye’s memory privately. Donations in memory of Faye may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 185 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5 or Brandon Seniors for Seniors, 311 Park Ave East, Brandon, MB R7A 7A4.
