Obituary for Hilda "Flo" Florence Lacquement

LACQUEMENT: Hilda Florence Irene, age 95 years, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Valleyview Care Centre. Born to Frank and Ann Court in Brandon on July 18, 1925, Flo was the oldest of three sisters. She completed her education at Fleming and Earl Oxford School in Brandon. Flo married Clarence Lacquement in August 1955, and together they raised their chosen daughter, Sandra May, who they adopted in 1961. Throughout her life, Flo worked as a sewing instructor for Singer Sewing Company; in the fabric department at Eaton’s; and in the mailroom at the Brandon Sun; but most importantly she was a full-time mom to Sandra, as well as her biggest fan - attending all her sporting events. She enjoyed spending time with her family and pets, especially cats, and listening to music. She was a member at St. Matthew’s Anglican Cathedral and St. Mary’s Anglican Church. Flo was a devoted mom to Sandy and loving wife to Clarence. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sandra, whose arms she passed away in, and grandsons Zeke and Gizmo, as well as her nieces and nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence in 2001; parents Frank and Ann Court; and sisters Betty Haggerty and Pat Court. The family will cherish Flo’s memory in a private graveside service with Sandra May as urn bearer and the remainder of her family as honourary bearers. Thank you very much to the entire staff of Valleyview Care Centre for your care and compassion to both mom and myself. A special thank you to Brent Buchanan and the entire staff at Memories Chapel for the love and compassion you gave to mom. Donations in memory of Flo may be made to St. Matthew’s Anglican Cathedral, 403 – 13th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4P9 or St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 401 – 1st Street, Brandon, MB R7A 2W8.
