Obituary for Joan Le Blanc

With her family by her side, Joan Le Blanc (nee Goodwill), 79 years of age, passed on Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.

Joan was born on February 24, 1943 in Vernon, B.C. to the late Bill and Agnes Goodwill. She was the second of four children, Mother to five children, Debee, Richard (Lynne), Guy (Amy), Robert (Rodemie) and Connie (Steven). Joan grew up on a farm in the Brandon Hills attending a small one room schoolhouse. She went on to high school in Brandon and eventually moved into Winnipeg where she met the love of her life.

Joan married the late Joe Le Blanc in 1965. They relocated many times through the Canadian Armed Forces, living in Shilo, Manitoba, Valcartier, Quebec, Moncton and Riverview, New Brunswick. After Joe passed away, Joan moved her family to Brandon where she worked for the Social Services department at the City of Brandon until she retired in 2005.

Her passion was bringing family together, welcoming all who came along to join in. Holidays were special to her, always having everyone’s favorite foods looked after so we could visit and play games. An avid fan, she spent countless hours supporting her children and grandchildren in their latest interest, always cheering us on. When we were young, she sewed outfits for us to wear. She crocheted beautiful doilies, painted ceramics, and created stuffed animals. She loved to putter about the house and had a knack for creating something special with whatever she found.

Joan will be lovingly remembered by sisters Carole, Eleanor, and Wanda, her 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Not to be left out is her little pug, Minnie.

Special thank you to Drs. Benning, Mustafa, Donohoe and Ruffo and all their teams for showing Mom nothing less than the kindest care and compassion. She spoke highly of all of you, and we are eternally grateful.

The Celebration of Joan’s Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
