John Marvin Hiebert was born July 15, 1929 at Lowe Farm, Manitoba, the eldest child of Jacob and Annie Hiebert. Upon completing Grade 9, John joined the family farming full time. Eventually, the family moved to Wheatland, Manitoba and John continued farming with his family, while also renting land himself in the Bradwardine area. On July 7, 1956 John married Frieda Pries, daughter of David and Susanna Pries. John and Frieda farmed in the Wheatland District until 1959 when they moved to the Alexander area to continue farming for themselves. In 1965, John and Frieda adopted their son Jim and the family continued working hard on their mixed grain, cattle and chicken farm. As the years progressed, the grain and cattle farm grew with John always happy to show friends and family his cattle endeavors. He enjoyed breeding Simmental cattle until 1999 when he sold the herd. John and Frieda farmed with their son Jim over the years. On May 13, 2010, Frieda passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Some time after this, John met Doreen Baker of Oakbank, MB; they were married June 4, 2011 and resided in Oakbank. In John and Doreen’s time together, they enjoyed travelling the countryside to visit family and friends. Sometimes they would end up back in the Lowe Farm District where their lives had begun, and on some occasions, they met people they had not seen since their school days. John was admitted to hospital in Beausejour in April, and then in October was transferred to Red River Place personal care home in Selkirk. John passed away March 23, 2021 to be with his Lord and Savior. The family would like to thank the staff at Red River Place for the care that they gave John in his final days here. John was predeceased by his wife Frieda, parents Jacob and Annie Hiebert and brothers Arthur and Henry. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Doreen Hiebert; son Jim (Bernice) Hiebert; grandchildren Desirae (Blake) Tucker, Jackie Schesnuk, Wyatt and Luke Hiebert; great grandchildren Khloe, Bexley and Dalton; stepchildren Bob (Darlene) Baker, Terry (Margaret Ann) Baker, Tom (Cara) Baker and Joanne (Rick) Cram and their families; as well as his sister Gladys Braun and brother Victor Hiebert, along with many nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will take place at Alexander Cemetery with Gerry Harms officiating. Donations in memory of John may be made to the Gideons International in Canada, P.O.
