KRUEGER: Katherine Elizabeth, age 98 years, of Brandon, formerly of Carnegie District, went Home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Dindsdale Personal Care Home in Brandon. Kaye was born May 22, 1923 in Landskron, Russia to Peter and Elisabeth Martens and immigrated to Canada with her parents and sister Lillian in 1925. She grew up on the family farm near Alexander, the oldest of five siblings with three sisters and a brother. Kaye met her husband Jake Krueger at their church in Griswold, Manitoba and they married August 4, 1951. They farmed at Carnegie where they raised their family of three sons. As spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren joined the family, each one was loved equally. Kaye’s most important decision was to become a lifelong follower of Jesus early in her life. She wanted others to have this same relationship with Him and she loved to teach Sunday School and lead Bible studies starting as a teenager and continuing well into her senior years. She was recruited to teach in a multi grade, one room school during WW2 and later went on to complete Normal School teacher’s training in 1950. Kaye blessed many people with her gift of hospitality, words of encouragement, and her kindness and generosity. Guest speakers at church and machinery salesmen alike were welcome at the family table. She volunteered many sleepless nights on the Youth For Christ crisis phone line encouraging callers of the value of life. Kaye was a master gardener. Her vegetable garden, flower gardens and houseplants all thrived under her care. Kaye loved her family and everyone looked forward to going home for family gatherings. Kaye was predeceased by her husband Jake in 2019 and will be lovingly remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law Don and Ann, Bob and Elsie, Ed and Carolyn; grandchildren Jaime (Troy), Al (Naomi), Alissa (Dustin), Andrew (Naomi), Gwendolyn, Diane (Chris); great grandchildren Sam, Zach, Cohen, Natalie, Nora, Bohdan, Ethan, Maxwell, Otis; sisters-in-law Shirley Martens, Marianne (Ron) Doerr, Anne Krueger, and Margaret Krueger. A private family interment will take place at Zion Cemetery on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
