Obituary for Kelly James Spearing
Memorial Service for Kelly will be held at Calvary Temple, 620 – 34th Street, Brandon, on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Charles Rempel will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery.
Kelly James Spearing passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, April 8, 2022.
Kelly was born January 21, 1963 in Gladstone and moved to Portage la Prairie at an early age. As a kid, Kelly rode dirt bikes, skidoos, even bicycle… anything that moved, he was going to master it. This carried on into his teens and then adulthood. Kelly loved anything automotive be it autobody or mechanical; and he never lost this love for all things automotive.
While he had no formal training, he loved working in the autobody industry; he also worked in construction, driving oil truck with Zenith Paving for 12 years; and concrete and then building construction with CMHA Westman.
Family was important to Kelly, especially his grandson, and he enjoyed watching his children succeed. He loved watching football with his son; and loved Nascar, but watched all kinds of motorsports. He also liked camping with the missus at Pelican Lake; spending time outdoors and grilling on an open fire.
Kelly will be lovingly remembered by his wife Cathy, daughter Jasmine (Robbie), son Jared (Sandra), grandson Jeremiah, brother Tracey (Traci), sister Carol (Lee), father-in-law David N.J. Penner, brothers-in-law Dave (Evelyn), Jake (Nancy), John (Lori) and sister-in-law Eileen. He was predeceased by his mother Dorothy (nee Ferris) Spearing, father Edwin M. Spearing, brother-in-law Henry Penner and mother-in-law Tina Penner.
