Obituary for Kenneth Jenner

Kenneth L. Jenner formerly of Elkhorn, Manitoba passed away at the age of 87 on May 10, 2023, in Edmonton, Alberta. Ken was predeceased by his loving wife of sixty-two years Irma V. Jenner (nee Smith) and is survived by children Vanda Jenner (Jim), Curt Jenner (Micheline), Susan Jenner-Welling (Les); six grandchildren Allan (Joanne), Krystle (Kyle), Andrew (Kayla), Ashley, Micah, and Tasmin; four great-grandchildren Michelle, Scarlett, Wade, and Logan; and sister Reta Giles (Milbur).

Dad was the epitome of an “Oil Man”. He started his career in his late teens working for Trans Prairie Pipelines in Cromer, MB. It wasn’t long before he was heading up the Weyburn office and marrying the love of his life and starting his family. Soon came a series of promotions that lead him to Virden, then Edmonton. Once in Edmonton, he joined AEC (now Cenovus/ Ovintiv) where his career soared. Dad was the Superintendent of Pipelines for Alberta and when he retired at age 62, was the liaison between the company and the Canadian Petroleum Society. Dad lived and breathed the oil industry. Our childhood memories always involved a road trip to check on his job sites.

Dad loved hockey and played goalie in the Old Timer’s league at work until his late 50s. The NHL playoff season was his favourite time of year. There was no chance of anyone watching anything else if a game was on.

Dad’s deep commitment to his family was his greatest strength. We all are so grateful to have him in our corner. We will deeply miss his knowledge and the support that he provided all of us throughout our lives.

A graveside interment service will be held on Tuesday May 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Rosewood Memorial Gardens Brandon, Manitoba.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish, may donate in memory of Ken to Diabetes Canada.
