Leroy “Roy” John Stevenson passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. He reached the age of 81 years, and is survived by Olga, the love of his life, and their two sons David (and grandchildren Bradley and Kendra) and Sean. Born in Sudbury, ON in 1941, he moved to Bowsman, MB in the Swan River Valley in 1943 and then Creighton SK, near Flin Flon, in 1951. Roy married Olga in 1964, moved to Winnipeg in 1965, Oo-za-wee-kwun (formerly Rivers Air Force Base) in 1975, Rivers in 1977, and then retired to Brandon in 2004. Roy was an educated man, having graduated high school and attending two universities and several colleges. Having served on numerous board and committees, Roy was an active member of several services, clubs and professional associated. Active in the church, he was an outdoorsman enjoying fishing, singing, camping along with several other activities including cross country skiing, bowling, curling, golfing and cards. He was an avid book reader and enjoyed Sci-Fi movies. The Funeral Service will take place at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 927 Assiniboine Avenue, on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Yaroslav Strukhlyak officiating.
