Obituary for Leslie Claire Cantlon

CANTLON: Leslie Claire, age 85 years, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Leslie was born on July 28, 1935 in Mintieth, Manitoba and spent his early childhood on the farm. He moved to Deleau with his family after the passing of his mother when he was 14 years old. Upon completion of his schooling at Grand Clairiere and Deleau, Leslie began working for the Manitoba Government, Highways Department at the age of 17 years and worked there until his retirement at the age of 57 years. He belonged to the Brandon Snow Goers for many years, as well as the Oak Lake Lions Club. After retirement, Leslie enjoyed spending his time working on his hobby farm and he loved to golf at Oak Lake. Leslie is survived by his loving wife Marlene; daughter Wendy Peters and grandchildren Trisha (Bob) Phinney, Trevor (Amy) Peters, Travis (Randee) Peters and Tarissa (Devin) Moore; daughter Vicky (Allan) Wood and grandchildren Chas (Regan) Wood and Brea Wood; son Darcy Cantlon and grandchildren Stephanie Cantlon and Cortney Cantlon; and 19 great grandchildren; three brothers-in-law Arnold (Barb) Ellingson, Art (Judy) Premeau and Bill Jasper and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Emma Cantlon, parents-in-law Lloyd and Ruth Ellingson, son-in-law Wayne Peters, sisters Evelyn Jasper, Greta Premeau and Mabel Walker and brother Ernie Cantlon. The family will cherish Leslie’s memory privately. Donations in memory of Leslie may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 4B, 457 – 9th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 1K2. Leslie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a great friend to all.
