Obituary for Lois Ada Cave

Lois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends.

Lois was born on November 2, 1954 to parents Elma and Fred Cave in the town of Rivers, MB. From a very early age she became an important part of the community. At an early age she began working along side her dad Fred on the farm. This is where her love for horses grew. If you didn’t find her busy on the farm you could find her at the nearest rodeo or horse show. She loved to join in every year on the milk run where she met many friends who became family. Lois was talented in many ways but if you were to ask her love and talent for square dancing was a highlight to her days. Lois dedicated many years to working with the rolling river school division as a janitor along side one of her best friends Kevin. Through the years she grew fond of each and every student to pass through the doors, many who became one of her “kids” whether it be the banter in the halls, taking them to and from school or simply supporting them in any way she could. She became an aunt to so many. Her colleges became family. If you never found Lois on a Sunday, you could always find her at the bingo hall. Whether she was playing or helping a friend you always knew when Lois won as she’d shout the loudest. Lois will be remembered by her sassy, witty and stubborn personality. Lois’s love for the native culture took her to many pow wows where she grew her family with each and every one she met.

Lois was predeceased by her parents Fred and Elma Cave and brother Ricky Benn. Lois will be forever remembered and missed by sister Linda and brother-in-law Robert; brothers Archie and Charlie (Jackie); aunt Emma; niece Jennifer (Mike); nephew Jason; great niece Natasha; great nephews Jonathon, Bailey, Bradley and Riley; great great niece and nephew Aizlynn and Carter; and special caregivers Jacquie, Donna, Deb and Jenny. Lois will be immensely missed by all of her friends who became family.

A Graveside Service will take place at Ancrum Cemetery on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.

Donations in memory of Lois may be made to Riverdale Palliative Care, Box 428, Rivers, MB R0K 1X0.
