Obituary for Margaret Faye Taggart

Margaret Faye Taggart (nee Weldon) went home to be with Jesus, peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, March 5, 2022.

Margaret was born to Howard and Betty Weldon on December 14, 1951, in Thunder Bay, ON. She graduated from Lakehead University as a Registered Nurse and moved to Brandon in 1973. She began working at the Brandon General Hospital, when she met the love of her life, Richard “Rick” David James Taggart and they were married on May 18, 1974.

After years of running the family business with Rick, Margaret went back to school and graduated from Assiniboine Community College in 2002 with her Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate and began working at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home. She loved helping and caring for others and honored her calling to serve Jesus, throughout her nursing career until she retired in 2014.

Margaret adored and gave her life to her children and family. When grandchildren arrived, she was dedicated to supporting them in their extra-curricular activities; gymnastics, hockey, baseball, basketball, swimming, soccer, school productions and was always ready to feed them snacks, serve a meal, have a sleepover, or give them a sick-day at Nana’s. She LOVED her grandbabies. Mom was active, enjoying gardening, baking cookies and butter tarts, walking and visiting with some of her closest friends; Colleen (nee Chambers) Klippenstein, Wendy Weldon and June Taggart. She was a loyal animal lover to dog Toby, dog Charlie, dog Sammy, cat Noah, cat Tux and dog Gabriel.

Margaret is survived by her children David (Jaime), Mark, Meagan (Shayne) and Randy; and grandchildren Mikaila, Logan, Eme-Lynn, Cole, Billie, Carter, Hayden, Avery and Baylor. She is also survived by her aunt June Taggart, brother David (Ena) Weldon, brother Bruce (Inga) Weldon, sister-in-law Wendy Weldon and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by husband Rick in 2005, mother-in-law Jean in 1985, father-in-law Bob in 1994, mother Betty in 2004, father Howard in 2004, brother Rob in 2006 and uncle Bruce in 2008.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends may make a donation in Margaret’s memory to Kidney Cancer Canada online at kidneycancercanada.ca.

Psalm 91:1-2
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God: in him will I trust.
