Obituary for Marian Kathleen Chernenkoff

Marian Kathleen Chernenkoff (nee Bayerle) at the age of 93 years, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Fairview Home in Brandon on Sunday, April 4, 2021.

Mom was born April 19, 1927 on the family farm near McTaggart, SK, where she was able to nurture her love of nature and all animals, particularly her horses King and Lucy. She graduated from school and began employment with the Red Cross Training School in Weyburn as a stenographer, eventually relocating to Regina.

She met and married Casey in 1956, and they made their home in Melville, SK, raising their three girls. They moved to Brandon in 1974 and the marriage ended in 1978. Mom forged ahead with determination and made home a happy place for her daughters. We could only admire her strength and perseverance, her patience and positive attitude. She loved spending time with her children and her grandchildren, playing games, watching old movies, music and her cat Misty.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Magdalena Bayerle, and siblings Joseph, Philip, Steven and Margaret. She is survived by three daughters: Linda Chernenkoff (Bob), Val Smith (Scott) and Ellen Duncalfe (Terry), and two granddaughters, Caitlin Clearwater (Dan) and Ashton Rowe (Justin).

We are forever grateful for the wonderful years we shared with Mom, for her enduring spirit, sense of humour and ability to see the rainbow through the rain. She taught us all the power of optimism and compassion and graced our lives with her insight and love. We will miss her every day.

Heartfelt thanks to the Fairview staff who cared so well for Mom for the past 16 years, most recently nursing her through the Covid virus. She loved you all. Our most sincere gratitude also to Dr. Vipulananthan, and Dr. Davis, who ensured that Mom lived her best life.

Mom will rest in the Brandon Cemetery and our family will honour her life privately at a graveside ceremony in the coming months.
