Obituary for Murray Harvey Kawchuk

Murray Kawchuk passed away with his family by his side at the Brandon Regional Health Centre in Brandon, Manitoba on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at age 55 years.

Murray was born on July 13, 1967, to Ruth and Harry Kawchuk in Hamiota, Manitoba. Murray attended his elementary school in Oakburn, Manitoba, and high school in Rossburn, Manitoba. He spent his childhood helping on the family farm and playing hockey and broomball.

After high school, he started his trucking journey at the age of 18 years. He worked for different companies for a total of 37 years. His journey of trucking ended on July 13, 2022, as he began his fight against pancreatic cancer.

Murray was predeceased by his father Harry and is survived by his mother Ruth, wife Mona, dog Bella, and his four kids Katrina, Chad, Tyson, Dusty, and their spouses, along with many family and friends.

Murray met his beloved wife Mona and spent 21 amazing years together, building the family home in Newdale Manitoba in 2001, where they continued to live and raise their children. Murray enjoyed skidooing, boating and his most recent love of taking his side by side out for a spin. Murray loved camping in the summer and staying at their seasonal lot in Sandy Lake, Manitoba, where they had a good group of friends who went boating, seadooing and had campfires.

Murray took pride in watching his children compete in sports, go to school and excel in their careers. Murray has one grandchild on the way and would have been the best “papa bear” to his grandkids. He loved being with his family and making memories with them.

In keeping Murray’s wishes, a private funeral service was held Memories Chapel in Brandon, Manitoba on February 2, 2023.

Donations in memory of Murray may be made to Pancreatic Cancer research.
