Obituary for Nathanial Ryzner

Nate Ryzner passed away accidentally on Sunday, May 21, 2023. Nate was predeceased by his mother Marcia Ryzner. Nate is survived by his loving parents, Elliot Ryzner (Rhonda Burnett), older brothers Damon (Chandel) and Jayce (Jade), sisters Rylee and Randi, and his beloved nieces, Talon and Eberle, and nephew, Louie. Nate also leaves behind his grandparents, many aunts, uncles, and cousins that loved him very much.

Nate graduated from Neelin High School with Honors in Athletics. He was a star athlete in basketball and football at Neelin High School. When Nate wasn’t playing sports, he was hanging out with friends or family. Nate was the life of the party and thrived being around the people that he loved. Nate got to enjoy Manitoba fishing with his dad, skiing the Rockies with his brothers, and a drink or five on the beaches of Mexico. Nate spent many weekends over the last couple of years relaxing on the boat and enjoying side by side rides at Pelican Lake with his dad, Rhonda, sisters, and cousins.

Nate started working at 15 years old. His most recent job last summer was at Grace Construction where Nate was fortunate to work alongside his older brother, Jayce. Nate learned so much about the construction trade from Jayce. Before this, Nate worked at Victoria Landing as a dietary aide and prep cook. Nate loved the residents, they brightened his day, and he would often come home with stories about how he dropped a tray or how he had many special meal requests. Nate would sometimes have to help his dad at the shop whether it was vacuum sealing or pressure washing and, well let’s be honest, he would always leave with a bag of jerky.

Nate had a heart with an immense capacity for compassion and understanding, he was quick to hug and open with his love for so many people, whether it was family, friends, or those who were new to his life. Nate was a fully committed uncle who adored the little ones and always loved to play and laugh with them. Even after a long day at work he would come home to little Talon or Eberle and still have the energy to make their day.

It is difficult to not dwell on what could have been and all the things he is going to miss, but he would be the first to give us a jab and tell us not to cry on his behalf, and instead cherish the moments we did have. Nate’s next plan was to attend SAIT in Calgary in September and start his college degree in business, he was going to buy a new car, a new laptop, and book himself for two new tattoos in memory of his mom.

The Celebration of Nate’s Life will be held at the Victoria Inn, Grand Salon, 3550 Victoria Avenue on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at a later date.

Donations in memory of Nate may be made to the Huntington’s Society of Canada, #801 20 Erb Street West, Waterloo, Ontario N2L 1T2.

Our family sends our heartfelt thanks to the EMS and fire department that were on the scene and the Virden RCMP for their dedicated hard work and quick response.

Thank you to Rev. Doug Neufeld for officiating the service.
