Obituary for Raymond Keith Brown

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Raymond Keith Brown. Born in Winnipegosis, Manitoba on January 4, 1933, Ray passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Ray started working at a very young age as a farm hand. It was while he was working for the Criddles in the Treesbank area that he met Marion Jean Jackson and they were married on October 2, 1954. He worked on several farms in Southwestern Manitoba until 1968 when they moved to Lauder and worked for Ross Thomas. In 1970, they moved to Hartney where he started his 24-year career with Bar 5 Simmental. They transferred to Douglas and Ray retired in 1994, at which time they moved to Deloraine until Marion took ill. In 1999, they moved into an apartment in Brandon to be closer to the hospital. After Marion passed on August 23, 2002, Ray continued living in their apartment until his health started failing and he moved into an assisted living complex 8 months ago. Ray devoted most of his working life to the cattle and mix farming industry. He enjoyed fishing, watching curling and hockey and spending time with his family. Ray will be lovingly remembered by his children Marilyn (Graig), Gwen, Bill (Verna), Keith (Brenda), Darryl (Diane) and Michael; grandchildren Tonya, Jamie, Josh, Charlene, Sean, Linc, Crystal, Amanda, Ian, Ashley, Colton and Steven; 11 great grandchildren; and his brother Mervin. He was predeceased by his son Robert; twin grandsons Terry and Scott; parents Ida (nee Little) and Norman; brothers George, Russell (Stella), Elmer and Don; and sister Audrey. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Brandon Regional Health Centre for the excellent care Ray received. The family will celebrate Ray’s life at a private graveside service. Donations in memory of Ray may be made to the BRHC Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3.
