Obituary for Ruby Luella Kaasgaard

KAASGAARD: With angels by her side, Ruby Luella Kaasgaard (nee Berry) gently passed into the arms of her Lord at Souris Personal Care Home on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Ruby was born on October 9, 1933 in Cromer, Manitoba to Lawrence and Fanny Berry. She attended schools in Cromer and Virden, then Brandon Agriculture Home Maker School. Ruby married Glen Gallinger of Hargrove, Manitoba in 1956, and together they had four children: Glenda, Roseanne, Christopher and Shaunovan. The family lived in Calgary, Alberta while Glen worked for Alberta Government Telephone, and Ruby was a homemaker. Ruby and Glen parted ways in 1967. Ruby met Kristen Kaasgaard of Belleview, Manitoba and they were married in 1971 and they had two children: Erik and Rachelle. Ruby became a partner with Kristen on their mixed farm in Belleview and she loved it all will her cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening and flower talents. Ruby had a love of life in so many ways, which was curling, baseball (Go Blue Jays!), reading novels, poetry, square dancing and long walks to the point of being a member of the Prairie Pathfinders of Manitoba. She enjoyed passionate conversations about politics and always voted, event when she lived in the personal care home. Faith in God and church was Ruby’s North Star, to which she devoted her life, from birth to drawing her last breath. Ruby loved music of all kinds and delighted in singing with her soprano voice in many church choirs throughout her life. Ruby is survived by her children Glenda Garden, Roseanne Gallinger, Christopher (Lindsay) Gallinger, Shaunovan Gallinger, Erik Kaasgaard, Rachelle (Paul) Pulak; grandchildren Andrea Speirs, Stephen Hartley, Beth Gallinger, Erin Garden (Dale Seafoot), Jared Gallinger, Scott Gallinger, Megan Kaasgaard, Joshua Gallinger, Olivia Gallinger, Keiva Pulak, Nikolas Pulak; great grandchildren Mardigan Garden, Ethan Speirs, Josephine Hartley, Vincent Garden Seafoot, Julia Speirs; sister Louise Croft of Darwell, Alberta; cousins and many nieces and nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Kristen Kaasgaard; siblings Albert (Eileen) Berry, Barrington Berry, Joyce (Stu) Fitzpatrick, Leone (Bill) Lane, Robert (Roberta) Berry; brother-in-law Al Croft; and son-in-law Murray Garden and first husband Glen Gallinger. Huge thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Souris Personal Care Home for their loving, respectful and professional care. The Graveside Service will take place at Rosewood Memorial Garden on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Thank you to Rev. Doug Craig for officiating.
