Obituary for Theresa Joyce Wirch

Theresa Joyce Wirch passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Theresa will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Salena Kuzyk (Tristan Joyce) and granddaughter Mila Kuzyk; son Silas Parsons; siblings Ramona (Dennis) Nakonechny, Cameron (Colleen) Wirch and Howard (Manda) Wirch; boyfriend Cory Smith; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Dagmar Wirch. Born December 9, 1970, Theresa was the shy, active youngest child of the Wirch family. Growing up in Brandon was a great way to experience her childhood. With the family in the bicycle business, it was natural at age 12 that she competed in BMX racing, usually winning - beating all the boys. Theresa was in her element when she was outside. She truly loved pitching her tent close to a great fishing spot where she would nestle near a roaring fire while devouring her latest catch. Camping was also her joy and would sometimes entail a canoe trip down the Assiniboine River. Theresa showed her children the wonders of the great outdoors, making them a part of her camping and fishing expeditions. She often would pitch her tent in the back yard as it “Really relaxes me to sleep outside.” Theresa worked for many years as a waitress, restaurant manager and server. She loved interacting with lots of people. Her friendly manner and beautiful smile endeared her to many regular customers. She thrived on hard work and a fast-paced environment. Theresa began having physical challenges in the latter years, battling chronic pain and increasing anxiety. She overcame breast cancer, but her body was weak and struggled with frequent illness. There were good times too, when she could enjoy being outside to take in another beautiful day. Theresa was very close to her parents. Even after Mom’s passing, she regularly visited Dad in the care home. She would go there to cheer him up and to receive his wisdom, patience and love. Dad’s presence was huge in her life, and his recent passing left her grieving. Theresa was raised with an understanding of the love and faith of God. Although she had a lot of struggles in life, her spirit remained strong. Theresa is now at rest joining her parents with our loving Heavenly Father. We love and miss you. You are in our hearts and minds. A private family graveside service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery.
