ALLEN: William “Bill” Harold passed away at Riverdale Personal Care Home on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Born April 16, 1930 in Rivers, MB, Bill attended grade school in Rivers, then trade school in Brandon. He began his plumbing career at Cotter Brothers in Winnipeg before returning to Rivers to work at Pinnigers Plumbing & Heating. Bill then worked at major construction sites in Thompson, MB and Fort McMurray, AB and then for the Department of National Defence as a Steam Fitter at Rivers Air Base, Lazo (Comox), B.C. Air Base, Portage la Prairie Air Force Base and Shilo Military Base Manitoba. An avid outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and was a Toronto Blue Jays fan. Bill belonged to various organizations including Rivers Masonic Lodge #115, Brandon Preceptory, Brandon Council #10, Royal Arch Mason, Khartum Shriners and Grand Lodge of Manitoba. Bill was a dedicated family man and will be lovingly remembered by his children Fred (Joan), Audrey (Dave), Arthur (Trish), Hank (Patti) and Jacqueline (Gary); 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandson; siblings Jim, Gordon (Lois), Dave (Marlene), Edward, Richard (Gerri) and Dixie Houston; special friend Roseanne Hewko; and numerous nephew and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife Lena; parents Alfred and Mary; brother Robert; and sisters Margaret and Dorothy. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from St. James Anglican Church, Rivers with Rev. Sally Carter officiating. Interment followed in the Rivers Cemetery. Honourary Pallbearers were Audrey MacKay and Jacqueline Ringland; active Pallbearers were Frederick Allen, Arthur Allen, Henry Allen, Gary Ringland, David MacKay and Andrew MacKay.
