McFAYDEN: Evelyn Patricia (nee Barber) passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 98 years. Pat was born February 23, 1922 in Grandview, MB to parents Mildred and Hugh Barber. She had 7 siblings. The family moved to Dryden, ON where she completed high school and went to work at the Royal Bank. She met and married Gordon McFayden on January 25, 1944. Their children, Haven, Penny, Scott and Leslie were born in Dryden and in 1955, they moved to Brandon where Brian was born. Gord passed away in 1959 after succumbing to his battle with cancer. Pat was studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses throughout this time and Gord encouraged her to continue with her studies as he knew she derived much strength, courage and faith, to help her. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the early 1960’s and spent her life devoted to her faith and her family. Pat enjoyed shopping (a good bargain), gardening, crossword puzzles, knitting and crocheting. She is survived by Haven (Jim Sinclair), Scott (Maureen) McFayden, Leslie Thornborough, all of Brandon and Brian (Karen) McFayden of Mission, BC; grandchildren Scott Sinclair, Dana and Aaron Hoy, Chelsey Dauphinais, Cody McFayden, Jayne McFayden and Amanda Thornborough and families; as well as many nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her husband Gordon, daughter Penny Hoy in 2001, parents and 7 siblings. A private graveside service was held at the Brandon Cemetery on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 officiated by Mr. Todd Gabler of the Brandon Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

My sincerest condolences to the McFayden family on the loss of your mother. Parents are special and when they pass it is extremely hard on those left behind. But Evelyn had many years to provide you all with tremendous memories that I know you all will cherish forever.

My condolences go out to the McFayden Family. I remember your mom as being a gentle and kind lady. I always felt very welcome in her home when hanging out as young teenagers with Leslie and Darlene Careme.
It’s always hard to say good bye, even when it’s expected.
